    hi all

is there any way to link the amazon reference that comes through on your credit card to an order apart from guessing?

I don't think so. I always choose the pay in Euro option at checkout and the amount on the original order always matches what appears on my bank transactions. I had to go thru my account yesterday to match them up as ordered a lot recently and they all matched the original order. I´d imagine its guesswork if you opted for stg at checkout. If you go to your orders section on amazon there is an invoice and you can click on that it might show correct amounts charged.

There's no reason why the amounts would not match if you choose to pay in your home currency but you are losing money by doing so. Even dealing with a giant retailer like Amazon, you cannot get as good an exchange rate as your bank will use when you pay in STG and let the credit card company do the conversion.

Always pay a vendor in his currency because his rate will never be as good as the one the bank uses.

The best way is to go to the orders, and click the transactions tab or 'printable invoice'.
You will get a printout of the exact amount in the currency that you can match with the time, date and correct payment card.

And as already said, its much better to pay in sterling than let Amazon convert for you.

And much better again to pay in sterling using Revolut!
