My partner recently got her full license she is driving a 05 Peugeot 206.Now that she has her full license she's looking to get something decent. I can't drive (medical reasons) we have 2 kids under the age of 4 (so have 2 car seats). Looking for something between €4000-5000. Live close to the border so don't could get something up north.

    Any recommendations?

What sort of driving you doing? would petrol or diesel suit better?

Diesel = loads of long trips
Petrol = lots of short trips

    Might help with options

Found a 2017 car on DoneDeal its only €4600 however it has rear damage (obviously in a crash) I know nothing about cars so should I stay clear or is it worth taking a look at? How much would a repair cost?

Avoid it, if it were affordable to repair the seller would already have done so. Plus DD is full of spoofers and chancers. If buying off that site bring someone that is knowledgeable about cars with you.

Just use common sense here. How much is a similar car that is not cashed selling for? If this one is substantially cheaper then think about it, why is that? And if the damage was reasonably priced to repair then why hasn't the car been repaired already so that the seller would get near full value for it?

If your browsing the cheapest examples of makes and models compared to others of similar age then chances are they are cheap for a good reason.

Does your mileage and driving style warrant a diesel car?

Not been smart as I have no idea about the comparisons between diesel and petrol but what's the main difference between the 2?

My partner would just drive around town and then a 80km round trip once a week? So probably talking around 100km to 120 km a week. Mostly town driving and motorway driving

    Petrol

As I mentioned above, lots of short trips then petrol
Lot of long distance runs then diesel
