(Mods: if this should go to EVs please move)

It will be interesting to see if this gets any traction.

Solving the hydrogen storage problem in a way that works with the existing distribution network would help the fuel cell case.
It's probably more attractive to Big Oil and Government taxation depts than EV.

Japan remain as committed as ever to Hydrogen/Fuel cells so there is a potential viable market.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Too little, too late. The horse has bolted. We will all be driving battery EVs soon enough. Is there a future for hydrogen? I would think so. Once we produce far more electricity (all renewable) than we need, we can use the excess to produce hydrogen, which can then be used for trucks / heavy machinery / trains / ships / home heating. Unless batteries get cheaper quickly, then we might not need hydrogen at all.

Don't they clean the air as they pass through it?

Yep. Every car has a air filter.

The issue with all this is "claims".

    Claims to be cheaper.
    Claims to be better.
    Claims to be economical
Claims to be more energy dense.

Even if it's true, how long will it take to roll out? 5, 10, 20 years?
How will they fare against more established renewable energies?
Can it actually be used in existing infrastructure? (Very doubtful)
Would it be better to just run power stations off the stuff and have every car an EV?

I love the idea of hydrogen, but it's never been a viable alternative to electric vehicles IMO.
