    I have held
    or
    I have not held..

I am making substitution, and have previously held one of the firearms been sought (though different serial number) which one do I tick?

Every specific individual firearm has a specific individual serial number. You can't have had the same firearm before with a different number.

Maybe you mean the same type of firearm (calibre, make etc.) but with a different number ?

I have had a 10/22 in the past 3 years. now i'm looking for another one. and yes it will have a different serial no.

I'm guessing the "have held" is for the purpose of renewal?

Exactly. 'have not' is the answer.

I can for sure. Forms, rules, guidelines, law are all unnecessarily confusing.
