Reviewing old Form11s and resubmitting

I may have missed some entries in previous Form11s after I reviewed my latest one with an accountant, in that I may be owed tax back.

I know you can re-review older Form11s up to 4 years back, so what is the process to do this via Ros?

    How do I re-submit them?

    Thanks

Any ideas? Where do I download the previously-filed Form 11s and what are the steps involved if there are updates required for older submissions to claim tax back?

If they were filed by you on ROS, you can view them. If they were not filed on ROS, you cannot view them, and if an accountant or agent filed them via ROS, you will probably not be able to view them.

If they were filed via ROS, go to my services as if you were submitting a new form 11. Select the year you want to view and go through the motions as if you were submitting a new return for the first time. The form that was actually submitted will be there, with all the relevant fields filled out. You will be able to make changes to the form to claim credits you may be due.

If you cannot view them on ROS, you can request copies of your previously submitted form 11s from Revenue. You can then decide if there was anything you left out, and request that Revenue amend the returns.

You better move fast because you have til new year's eve to amend your 2014 return. If you have to request that Revenue make the amendment, get the request in before the 31st.

cool thanks, yep these are ones I filed myself. I'll look through them this weekend, shouldn't take more than an hour or so to update.

Apparently you can only claim for unclaimed losses up to 2 years past the filing year.

So if I had losses in 2014/2015/2016 that weren't correctly claimed, I can only claim for 2016.

Whereas if I had unclaimed credits, this is where I can claim for 2014/2015 as well.

    Is this correct?

Actually to answer my own question I see they've "disabled" fields that you cannot enter on older Form 11s.

so for the 2014 one the losses entry is disabled and they have the message
If you wish to claim under S. 381, to set any loss made in the trade in the year 2014 against your other income, enter the amount of the loss. Claim to be made on or before 31/12/2016.

So yes seems you can only go back up to 2 years rather than 4 when you want to do a FULL Form11 review.
