    Hello all,

Hope someone can give me some help.

I have purchased a commercial building which was previously used as a creche but closed down a number of years ago. Its in quite a rural location, not on any main sewerage or anything like that (maybe not relevant)

I now am considering using the same building for a Nursing home. I will not be proposing to do anything on the outside of the building aesthetically but I am changing the original commercial use to something different and I will need to do works inside the building - alter ceilings, move walls etc

So my question is, do I need planning permission to do this and is there anything in particular I should be wary of setting up a Nursing home in terms of the building and grounds themselves.
    Thanks

Yes planning required and fire cert & dac cert.

Your design team will need to engage with hiqa and of course comply with all current building regulations.

    Nursing home.
    Big venture.

This is not the thing you get advice about on boards.
You will need a Design Team. Architect, engineer, QS, BER (NZEB), and close communications with the LA to make this work.
