Amazon/DHL/An post provided faulty tracking number

    Hi folks,

I bought two large items on amazon ten days ago. Delivery was to be next week but on tuesday I saw that the packages had been transferred from DHL in germany (?) to an post. The Amazon order page linked to a DHL page which showed the package was in Germany and being transferred to the local carrier. It gave an post tracking link which didn't work.

But my amazon account kept updating and got notification yesterday that the packages were 'arriving today by 8pm'.

Stayed at home all yesterday - nothing. Around 9pm the status changed to 'oops something went wrong'.

But I can't get through to either An Post or DHL because neither of them will accept the tracking number provided by Amazon/DHL (that one link on the amazon order page to the DHL page works but any attempt to query it results in an 'order number not recognised' message).

Now it's back to 'arriving today by 8pm' and I'm wondering wtf? Is this a real notification? Do An Post deliver in Northern Dublin on a Saturday?

    Quad

I'm in a similar spot with an order on eBay. My package arrived in Dublin 2 days ago but the An Post tracking number doesn't work. Got an email saying out for delivery but arrival time still showing between 6th - 8th Dec. Not sure how An Post work and maybe someone can enlighten me? Do they wait for a batch to come in before delivering or is it something else.

This comes up all the time with these shipments. By handed over they seem to mean to their international service, for onforwarding to An Post in Ireland. They always say the same place for delivery in Germany. You should get it Tuesday or Wednesday

    Ah for God’s sake.

So ‘out for delivery arriving by 8pm today’ means ‘we’re delivering it to an post’.

    That’s completely stupid.

My package is with An Post but still taking ages to deliver.

Amazon delivery was good until an post got involved, once I see an An Post tracking number I know it won't arrive as expected .

Probably will arrive but when is the question.

Quite the opposite here. With prime 90% of stuff from amazon comes in 2 days with An Post, thats much better than crappy iparcel.

Only problems occur as with the OP's delivery is stuff that comes from Germany with DHL and you don't need to order from amazon.de for your delivery to originate in Germany.

Same here. Normally excellent with An Post

Prime shipments come via the premium courier service, other regular orders may go through the DHL/AnP mail chain which isn't quite the same.

Prime orders only track from D12/Athlone onwards as they're consigned that far.

All my recent Prime orders have come with An Post most are two days however two prime orders I had came from Germany with DHL and then An Post and took much longer.

For example this printer is listed as Prime https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01JM2VSQQ/ but comes from Germany and takes about a week to arrive (I got it when it was a much much better price so worth the wait ;)).

So with no notification or notice half the shipment turned up today (one big box out of two). I was out so it was left with Neighbour’s.

An post still don’t recognize the tracking number and DHL haven’t updated it on their end since it left Germany.

Is it unusual for a shipment to be split like this and will it all just turn up eventually?

My order spent 4 days in Dublin and only now arrived in Portlaoise

One of the big boxes arrived unannounced on Monday (the tracking number with DHL is still useless and not recognized by an post).

Who knows where the other one is. The amazon order page said whoops something has gone wrong and now is says to come back to them if it hasn’t arrived by 12 December.

This is complete and utter sh*t service.

Something similar is happening to me at the moment. Item was posted from Germany on Thursday last, and by Saturday 4am it was in Koln ready to be forwarded to Ireland. Haven't heard a whisper since then. There is a link on the DHL tracking to An Post but the number cannot be found.

That'll be it until An Post is about to deliver it. Judging by the threads about the slowdown through An Post, that could take a while......

That'd be fine, but I wish there was some kind of update to mention a delay. That's all I really want.

How long did it take to get your package delivered ? An post also said that my package was out for delivery, but nothing came..
