Skirting Board Woes

I'm looking to get a new laminate floor down and if possible I want to avoid beading around the edges. I've been told taking the skirting off is the answer to this but I have pipes along part of it so I cant remove it. I'll have to box the pipes in and I'm wondering if there's any sort of skirting moulding that might fit over the existing skirting to avoid beading and make a "nice" look to the place?
Does that sound plausible? Has anyone any advice on what might look good?
