    Hi,
we hope to start construction of our house in the new year and I am trying to get things organised now. We plan on going the direct labour route and are "opting out" of the certification. My questions regarding the Part L TGD are as follows:
    1. if opting out of certification does a part L compliance report (DEAP software report) need to be uploaded to BCMS at the start of the build?
    2. if yes, does this need to be completed by a registered assessor? would like to know this as a number of years ago my brother did get trained to do this in college (building services engineer course) but did not get fully registered. we will probably complete the DEAP report anyways as a peace of mind to ensure we are selecting correct materials etc.

    TIA

What local authority are you based in?

I know some authorities will request this info (deap calculations) but it isn’t uniformly sought

To be honest, you will need it regardless so just get it done.
I assumed it was needed for commencement but perhaps not.

    1. Yes
    2. Can’t do much
    3. Yes
    4. Materials? Irrelevant. BER will do nothing for you. It’s a paper exercise nothing more, your arch will advise on this
