No Sky Signal

I have troubleshot this and basically my tv is showing a box saying:
No Signal and a countdown of four minutes.
I tried everything and have booked an engineer but am hoping maybe someone could help me before then as he can't come for two weeks. I rang Sky and went through everything over the phone, like resetting and going through the channels.

Misaligned dish, faulty LNB, cable problem, bad cable connection at LNB or receiver. Might be worth getting a local installer to have a look.

Thanks for the reply. I want to get someone out asap so might start googling installers, hopefully they won't cost too much.

Tell them you are going to cancel and they will likely fix it for free.

They won't do that I'd say. I had to pay for an engineer before. I looked up local
installers but they are more expensive and work on the basis that they are faster than Sky to come to you. I tried Sky Go but there was a bad echo on the sound so I'm relying on online players now.

Post a picture of the onscreen message.
Sounds like a tv source issue rather than a sky satellite problem.

Its like what Kbell said. Its more than likely a problem with your sources other than it been a satellite signal problem. its either HDMI or Scart connection/cable issue depends on what ever way your tv is connected to your sky box.
Also if its an LG TV you have then they do give problems with faulty HDMI inputs on back of the TV.

Can you display the Sky receiver menus? If not, there is a connection issue between the receiver and the TV.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,130 ✭✭✭Surreptitious

No there are no menus coming up. Can I fix this myself?

Test with different HDMI cable, test on all HDMI inputs, test with scart cable

I'll try but I don't have another cable, can you buy one in Maplins or somewhere? Sorry to come across stupid here but I haven't a clue.

Maplins are gone but can be purchased elsewhere like Argos. Test the existing cable on the other HDMI inputs.

All TV's nowadays will be Saorview but the name of the TV could be anything from Nordmende,Walker,Sony, Phillips LG and so on. Glad you got it sorted and by looking at the pic you posted its not a satellite signal issue. :)
