Old house in Dublin 8 with water connection but not via the meter

We're refurbishing a terraced house in D8 that was built pre-1900 without mains water. At some stage a bathroom and kitchen were added at the back and connected to a water supply running through the gardens or lane to the rear of the house. However there is also a water meter under the footpath outside the front door. Our builder has run a water connection from the front of the house towards the water meter at the front but he tells us there's no stub to connect to on our side of the meter.

What's the procedure here? In effect we're already connected to water but we think we're connected to a spur. It would seem simplest to connect to the metered supply. What do we need to do?

    Hi,

If you would like to fill out our pre-enquiry connection form, we will be able to check the feasibility of this connection and advise you further.

    This can be found here.

    Thanks,
    Mairead

Thanks for replying, Mairead. The form you sent requires me to provide maps which isn't the easiest for me to do - the house exists, I have an Eircode, the meter is in the footpath right outside the door, we're already connected to water and wastewater - do you really need a map?
