Are all of the slow chargers in the country 2x11kw?

I've been getting my head melted on Facebook with talk of 11kw, 7kw, 3.6kw, 16a, 32a, single phase, 3 phase, my heart is broke listening to it all.

Basically I have a single phase 32a type 2 cable that gives me 7kw at the slow chargers. However if I get a 3 phase cable, I can take 11kw on them. However it takes the 11kw as that is 3.6kw "per phase" I think and its a 3 phase cable.

However as its only a 16a cable not 32a, in theory at a single phase 7kw charger I would only be able to take 3.6kw because although the cable is 3 phase, the charger could only supply single phase which is 3.6kw.

So are there any single phase 7kw posts in the country???

    There are but not many.
Most destination chargers (in hotels Etc) are 7kW/32a single phase.

Not so bad, I'll still have my old 10m single phase 32a in the car for such cases.

Lots of the ones at train stations are 7kW

Have you bought the 3 phase cable already and its only 16A you got?

If yes, could you ask them to take it back and get the 32A version?

A 32A 3-phase cable will give you max speed on every charger you visit and one less cable to carry around.

I would just get a 22kW 3 phase cable from a Zoe and that can cover both!

The cable I'm getting IS from a Zoe. I'm not actually sure if it's 16a or 32a!

    It's a second hand 6m cable.

It's already in the post. But I'll be carrying 2 cables anyway as I'm keeping my old 10m cable for the inevitable occasional ICE-ing.

If it's from a Zoe it will be 32a 3phn, Zoes were only supplied with that cable

Sounds like you are good to go with that then Phil!

You will get 7kW at home (2x16A since it combines two rectifier inputs) and you will get 11kW on the public SCP's (3x16A), assuming you have the 11kW i3.

You wont, obviously, get 22kW since the i3 can only pull 16A per phase.

Where you could have been caught is getting a 3ph 16A cable would have resulted in you only getting 1x16A at home and hence only 3.7kW. If your new cable is 3ph 32A you'll get 2x16A.

Thats my understanding on what others have posted anyway.

At home I'll be using the single phase 32a cable that came with the car so that's all good. My home charger is untethered so the BMW cable will stay plugged in and essentially become the tethered cable.

The Zoe cable is a winner then. Personally I'd gladly flog the 10m cable but my wife wants to keep it for the odd ICE'd occasion.

Sorry for jumping on the thread: are all the slow charge points sockets as opposed to tethered? And they're all type 2 sockets?
Technically I could use a type 2 - type 1 cable to charge an Ampera on them?
I want to get the cable anyway to use with a home charger but makes more sense if possible to destination charge also.
And lastly is the above the case only for the ESB chargers or those at hotels, ikea, lidl etc also?

    Thanks

In ireland generally all slow charge points are sockets and non tethered.
The only exception is Tesla Destination chargers which are tethered type 2, and the type2 to type 1 adapter does not work on these.

    Yes, yes and yes.

There may be some private installations that are something else (maybe some early ones are Type 1?) but I've never encountered them.
