Private clamping

Just wondering if anyone here can clarify something for me.

Currently I operate private clamping on my premises (Building Supply store). As far as I know I conform with all relevant laws and bye-laws and there is adequate signage etc.

Parking is free in my car park for customers however I clamp people who park there and do not enter my shop. I currently charge €125 to release the clamp. Looking up the legislation I see I can possibly charge an extra €25 if the car is relocated on the premises.

I have a recovery truck so it would be no bother for me to move the cars around the back of the shop. Would this qualify as relocation?

Would you have an issue with me cutting your clamp off?

    :D

I'm sure you could probably be a bigger arsehole if you took some sort of course. :pac:

Obviously. That is destruction of property.

What would/could you do about it?

I thought you were in favour of people scamming parking rules?

Seems that what is good for the goose is not good for the gander.

Report you to An Garda Siochana and hand over CCTV evidence.

    It's not destruction. Just restructuring.

You could, but you wouldn't see a face, just a clamp fairy. :pac:

Also its not destruction, just relocation of said clamp... 25 euro please.

You might want to keep the road traffic act in mind if you're going to involve AGS in your scheme.

113.—(1) A person shall not, without lawful authority or reasonable cause, interfere or attempt to interfere with the mechanism of a mechanically propelled vehicle while it is stationary in a public place, or get on or into or attempt to get on or into the vehicle while it is so stationary.

Ah Paddy this has to be a wind up.
You of all people should be the one who we all would of thought would encourage people to park for free and here you are clamping them.

Where is this building supplies business?

And you have a recovery truck. You must be very busy with all your business interests.

They wouldn’t be interested once they saw the clamp sitting there with a shiny ne padlock beside it. Padlocks are cheaper than clamping fees.

They wouldn’t be interested once they saw the undamaged clamp sitting there with a shiny new padlock beside it. Padlocks are cheaper than clamping fees.

It's been said already, but aren't you the guy who has has problems with people not letting others park for free in multi storey car parks?

Indeed, you've also claimed to share numerous services with friends and neighbours.

Reading comprehension is great there pal. That applies in a public place. This is private property.

    I'm clamping this thread.

If I relocate it to After Hours it will be extra.
