New TV and possibly a soundbar

    Hi guys

The boss has eventually relented and is allowing me upgrade from a Sammy 40" but not allowed go too mad. Not allowed any more boxes or wires hence possibly thinking that the sound bar might be the way to go rather than another AV receiver and speakers.

It's in an open plan area and thinking a 49" as a 55" might be too big seeing that we are sitting 10-12 feet away. TV is wall mounted and is currently used for mainly general viewing and sports and movies channels when the kids are gone to bed.

Budget around €1500 but there is wriggle room for a special Boardsie deal. Would like to get real bang for my buck.

Boss is concerned about the syncing lag between tv and sound bar so something that has minimal issues in this regard would be great.

    Thanks

    Hi Nu2dis,

thanks for the post and apologies for the delay getting back to you - wow €1500 is a cracking budget for a 49" and a soundbar :D

..so I'm immediately going to have to ignore that and say that you really should look at an OLED which will squeeze into your budget - the problem is that the OLED is near the top of the €1500 before the soundbar ( but we will come back to that ;) ) the 2nd problem is that OLED's start at 55" size, but if you are sitting 10-12 feet away I really don't think that is an issue..

So if it was me I really would strive for an OLED - we start with the LG OLED 55B8 which is simply stunning - it's a 5 star award winner at What Hi-Fi at £2000 - we currently have it reduced to £1299 / €1398 - if you partnered it with the Polk Signa S2 Soundbar / sub Combo:
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-203722-polk-signa-s2-soundbar.aspx

    So we can do:

    LG OLED 55B8s:
    https://www.richersounds.ie/p-203506-lg-oled55b8s-55-inch-oled-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-smart-tv-freeview-play.aspx

    ..With the Polk signas S2:
    https://euro.richersounds.ie/p-203722-polk-signa-s2-soundbar.aspx

...which is currently €189 then you would have a pretty amazing set-up and we could squeeze the price to €1549 including delivery and our 6 year warranty on the TV for you as a Boardie deal

    Keep us posted,

Thanks John for the response ... budget figure came from looking at the Sony 49XF9005 and the HTXF9000/HTZF9 Sound bars as I had read pretty decent feedback on the XF9005

I will need to check with the boss about the 55 inch LG! ... if I was to go with the LG I'm assuming the Polk Signa might have been to bring it in around budget?  If there was a little bit more available would you stick with the Polk Signa for the soundbar or upgrade?

    Cheers

    Hey Nu2dis.

I would stick with the Polk as it really is a great product for its price.

The next real step up in soundbars would be around the 299 euro mark.
