New Seat Tarraco

I am in the market for a new 7 seater and had pretty much decided on a Skoda Kodiaq, however I got a glimpse of the new Tarraco in the flesh yesterday and it is very nice. The pricing on it seems to be a bit on the steep side however as it is priced above the Kodiaq. They do seem to be kitted out well though so some major thought needed. Has anyone any thoughts on this model? I would not really have considered a Seat previously but this one seems to be ticking a lot of boxes.

Hope to buy one in twelve months time, seat depreciation is steeper than skoda, reckon terraco demos this time next year will be a good bit cheaper than the kodiaq.

Saw one of these in the flesh for the first time earlier today, Bradys Castleknock had a LHD one in.

Fantastic looking car, all most modern tech in there, screen in dashboard as well as dash etc.

Looks the business, inside and out, less angular than the Kodiaq, more tech in there.

Top of the 'would like to have list'....

I’m looking at one too. Spec in the SE actually really good, much better than Ambition in the Kodiaq with digital display, led lights and other extras on the Skoda standard on the Seat. The Xcellence is 5k more and aside from bigger alloys and leather I’m failing to see where the extra money goes.

I’m surprised that they only have the 1.5 manual and the 2.0 diesel manual, no DSG and no 4WD on the price list, but it’s early days I guess. Nice looking motor, the rear lights are a bit like the Sportage but that’s not really a bad thing

My only real concern is resale. I have a Leon and the depreciation is fairly rough, especially compared to say an Octavia though they are quite different cars, where as the Kodiaq and Terraco are more similar.

What Leon do you have, currently looking at ST Xcellence model to replace my octavia Estate. Good trade in offer and 0% finance at the moment so really considering it.

On the 7 seater I don't see any real good deals at the moment, they all seem relatively new out.

I’ve a 161 110bhp 1.6 SE 5 door, nice car overall but I’ve also got use of a Octavia Combi and the Octavia is a more up market feeling car overall, eg small things like dash plastics, sound deadining are better in the Skoda. Rear seat legroom Id say is better too. My Leon has lost price of 26k new and it won’t be worth half that now

You’d also get 0% on an Octavia and the spec is v good too. I’d prefer the FR to Xcellence and that model in 184bhp form makes a lot of financial sense especially compared to the VRS Octavia

The garage I'm dealing with do skoda also but can't do as good a deal and the xcellence has 5k scrappace which he is giving me 2k on top of trade in that no other garage has matched yet.

I have the 1.2tsi man and looking to go to the 1.5tsi dsg. Just seems you get more spec in the leon for your money at the moment.

Also for the op, this review is just out today and always do a in depth review. (although it's no Thomas this time ;-) )

    A detailed review here:

If your familiar with the Kodiaq then you will be familiar with the Tarraco's package.

I have got some prices to change to the Tarraco, but they are not exactly tempting me. There is a lot of spec on the SE but the smaller wheels and black body mouldings all over put me off a bit.

The Excellence looks far better but is tasty at about €42,800 for a petrol manual...I got a far superior deal on a Style and Sportline Kodiaq.
They are not offering much discount off list price so if they don’t come back with anything better, I’ll get a Kodiaq...I am not paying top dollar to be one of the first to have one, but I just feel their pricing is all wrong.

I saw this earlier...a decent in depth review.

The pricing of the Excellence model just seems to be a bit aspirational from Seat imo, but they say the spec they offer is better....

Is the exterior of the Xcellence much different to the SE? I only see top of the range videos and it looks good there

42800 is v pricy for a 1.5 manual but the SE seems way better value. It has 18 alloys too which are reasonable and a bit cheaper to get tires for. Ultimately it’s down to the deal and if the Kodiaq is cheaper with discounts then that’s a big decision

No auto option is a sour point for me but otherwise I like it.

in the off chance that you are not aware theirs a new model due soon enough too.

The SE looks ok on paper, but I have seen one online and the interior seats are just that basic grey cloth which are a bit off-putting. I could probably live with that but the exterior loses the chrome front grille and and the other chrome/silver touches, and the smaller wheels detract from the car (well, compared to the larger ones on the Xcellence). There is a lot more black plastic on the SE model and the navy one on the online reviews just seem to remind me of an unmarked Garda car of old.

I would have to get the Xcellence but I cannot see how I can justify the massive price jump of over €5k...I just don’t see the value or how they can justify that much considering the fee extras only added.

Is this supposed to be the replacement for the Alhambra?

Thanks, Yes was aware but always good to make it clear. (I know someone who got an IX35 just 2 months before the Tucson hit the showrooms)

Golf is due for product June so I guess we will see the new Leon in Jan 2020?

But thats the reasons for the offers on this model at the moment and there are pros and cons to this.

I looked at the Tarraco, and I too can not see the value in the Xcellence trim for this car, and I normally add everything available?

I just got a quote for one of these on Friday. There are launch models landing in January and available to take...Xcellence spec plus launch pack (Dab radio, mapcare, sunroof, safety pack and upgrade from 19 to 20 inch wheels).

The launch models are only available in manual which is disappointing. For a basic diesel manual the price I have been quoted is €48,250 list price, with approx €2k discount available on this !

Now I don’t know if it’s just me, but that seems fairly saucy for a manual 150bhp diesel (albeit with some nice extras).....

Yeah that’s expensive for sure, almost Q5 or X3 money

Have you considered the 5008? Seems you could get this a lot cheaper for the GT line, or around the same price for the most expensive GT.

The Skoda Kodiaq Sportline is top of the list at present. I had looked at the 5008 but just didn’t warm to it. I am probably just accustomed to the build and materials in the VAG group vehicles.

The Seat’s are normally priced slightly below the equivalent Skoda, but with a bit more kit. I just think they have made a mistake with pricing this model.

Somebody somewhere made a huge mistake. That is stupid money for a Seat, especially as it isn't even automatic.

Seat depreciation is usually sharper than skoda, very surprised they are actually pricing them higher than skoda?
