Has anyone tried the Virgin Media Powerline adaptors?

We're having terrible problems getting wifi into one room of the house and are hoping this could boost it. At €50 a pop are they a good option?

We're on Virgin Media for up to 240mg broadband and have the white hub

Homeplugs(Power line adapters) have always worked well for me, never had any issues with them.

I don't know what Virgin supply but I'm guessing you'd get them with faster speeds and cheaper on the likes of Amazon. They are plug and play so no Tech expertise required.

Bare in mind you can buy them pass-through also which means they have a built in 13A socket, so when you plug them in to an existing socket you still have a socket available for other appliances, handy if you have limited sockets available in the particular room you need to use them in.

    Pass-through

I've tried them in about 8 different houses and have got results from 130 Mbit to not working at all and everything inbetween.
It depends on the wiring in the house and if they are on the same circuit and there is no way of checking or fixing this as the standards for deploying electricity in a house does not take data av standard into consideration.

Brst to buy from amazon so you can send them back for a refund if you're not happy.

Or Argos. Just throw them right back at them, if you don't like them. (They're a waste of space and time in my opinion, but hey .. try it, if you have time).

They do serve a purpose though and can function very well. Speeds are nowhere near advertised but plenty fast for streaming TV etc. Amazon is usually good price.

Yes but it's mostly down to luck!
