    Hi all
Has anyone ny idea how much I should be paying for a full service on a 2011 vauxhall insignia diesel in the Dublin area. I’m just looking for a service, not new tires, wipers etc.
    thanks.

Guide price from Windsor on this page www.windsor.ie/service

Try Boland's Opel in Clondalkin, more reasonable than other Opel dealerships

I don't see the point in taking a nearly 8 year old car to a main dealer for servicing to be honest. The only reason I can see is if the manufacturer offers goodwill on a big bill for keeping a main dealer service history, however that's very unlikely on a car of that age.

Sign up to the Opel service club (free to join).
On a car over 5 years old you`ll get 25% discount off parts and labour.
Full service if youre a club member is €369 (menu price) less the 25% discount.

Bazz I would have been of the same opinion as yourself but 25% off brings the price in line with an independent. I was quite surprised when I started working with Opel how much they will discount servicing to keep older stuff in the dealer network.

Besides that if I owned a 2011 insignia Id bloody well make sure it was done right :D:D:D

What's 369 for air oil fuel filters and 5w 30 oil and a check up.
    That's some laugh.
Max 2 hrs including check up.
It must be 100 euro per hour labour.

Yeah to be honest I think I might just go to a mechanic I know and get him to do the job. I’ve rang around a few places, and holy jaysus, the pricing is very expensive.

If price is the main concern just learn to do it yourself. That's the cheapest option and it's easier than you think.

Oil, oil filter, air, fuel & pollen filters & the various inspections won't cost €300 in many main dealers not to mind independent operations.

Yep I'd love to have the time to learn to do it and then actually carry it out. Genuinely under pressure time wise.

Main dealer labour rates are 95-100 per hour.
But sure why would you go to a main dealer anyway with them using genuine parts, franchise trained technicians and the proper franchised diagnostic equipment??

No fred in the shed will do it for you for 20 euros an hour with the cheapest of the cheap parts and some **** oil and then tell you to go elsewhere if something goes wrong or they cant fix it.

Plenty workshops out their can do that work and stand over it.
They won't be charging that price and they have all the equipment
They even have fully trained mechanics.
It's an Opel insignia 11 reg not a Ferrari.

The difficult part is trying to find such a workshop who knows what they're at. Our current indy just left the business so with 2 cars now in the house I'm struggling to find a replacement.

there is of course a middle ground & I'm sure there are plenty main dealers employing incompetent and disinterested apes that might be well "trained".

Insignias of that vintage need to have the oil pressure checked, that is, with an actual oil pressure gauge. There is a seal going bad in the oil pump, cheap part but big labor, and even bigger cost if not caught in time.

Yeah the mechanic I was thinking of going with was telling me about this seal that can become hard and brittle that must be replaced on the head of the engine. That must be it. I’ll tell ya the price when I get it off him and then tell ya the price I get off the main dealers.

It's on the bottom end, not the head. Getting to it is a big enough job, I imagine you will get very little change from 500E...

Do the 141 on models have the same problems.

I don't know, it may be too soon to tell even if they have.

Get the seal replaced now during the service. You'll thank yourself in the long term. The seal is sandwiched between the block and sump. It seals the pick up tube to the oil pump. When the seal goes hard it sucks air instead starving engine of oil. If the low oil pressure message comes on the dash it's nearly always to late. It is a pricey job because on some versions the gearbox has to be removed to access bolts for sump. Although I have drilled access holes before to access bolts without removing gearbox cutting down on a lot of time. 141 insignia has same seal.

My friends A3 with BXE (Borked eXploding Engine) got majority of his costs covered and it was due to FMDSH, and it is older than the OP car which tbh, also have the same kaboom reputation.
