Second stb not picking up all channels

I have a motorised dish with a quad lnb. Four cables run from the lnb into the attic and two of those are being used. One for the living room and one for a bedroom. Additional, I have an dtt aerial and use combiners to send the sat/dtt signals down one cable.

The main stb is the living room and is able to scan and see all available channels Ok. This stb is connected to the cable that powers the motor, however, I don't use the motor.

The second stb is in the bedroom and is able to scan and see some channels (about 115). Has trouble seeing hd channels, pick, dave, drama ... This stb requires the main stb to be turned on, otherwise it cannot "tune in" in the sat channels.

I've tried to do the manual tuning (setting freq, etc), but it is still not picking up the missing channels.

What do I need to do to allow the second stb to see other several hundred satellite channels and not be dependent on the main box being switched on?

NB: I have a FTA setup with Saorivew.

So you have a cable going to a motorised dish, with the the cable from house going to the back of the motor and thena cable from the motor to a port on the lnb on the dish ?

I presume the LNB is a quad lnb and that you also have a cable from the bedroom going directly to another port on the quad lnb.

There is no reason that you should have to power on the main box to get power to the bedroom. They are both seperate connections to the quad lnb.

If you are not using the motor then connect the cable directly to a port on the lnb, rather than through the motor..

Are these cable runs long ? Is there an option to turn on extra power on the receiving box in the bedroom ?

Yes, that's how I see the setup - all the cables have their own lnb port.

cable #1: quad lnb --> motor --> attic --> combiner --> living room.

cable #2: quad lnb --> attic --> combiner --> bedroom room.

I'll wait for the wind to die down a bit before rejigging cable #1 to bypass the motor. If this doesn't work, could this mean that the lnb would need to be replaced?

    thanks.

Try another port if its a quad, could be a port is blown. What type signal quality are you getting in the bedroom? Is it constant ?

    Signal quality for 2nd stb:
    SNR: 68-69%
    AGC: 33-36%

    Signal quality for main stb:
    SNR: 100%
    AGC: 98-99%

I'll put a F-connector on the spare lnb cables tomorrow and see if they're any better.

An update - one of the lnb ports appears to be dead, another one is working somewhat.
So, the lnb has 1 good, 1 dead, 1 ok'ish and 1 fading ports.

Had to remove the combiners and splitters - the signal levels improved to 80% (for both SNR & AGC) for the 2nd stb. No longer dependent on main stb to powered on (was needed when using combiners/splitters).

Combiners/splitters were used for combing/splitting sat + dtt signals.
