    Linky: https://www.thejournal.ie/mcgregor-driving-ban-4364835-Nov2018/
Garda evidence outlined how the 30-year-old former UFC champion was driving at a speed of 154 km/h in a 100 km/h zone, at Kill, Co Kildare, on 11 October, 2017, at 10.57pm.

Hardly warrants a driving ban, but it was madman Zaidan after all.
    the 30-year-old former UFC champion

Typical bitter journalists, they had to get that dig in.

I can safely say that no one here has ever crept above the speed limit before.   Clip, clop away on your high horses.

    He was fined for speeding.

He was banned because he has had more than 10 previous driving convictions in as many years, one of which was for speeding.

Any you've never crept above the limit now and then?

Any you've never crept above the limit now and then?

Going at 154% of the speed limit is hardly creeping is it?

Even if he did, he wasn't caught for it.
Mr McGregor was, and didn't bother paying the fine, therefore allowing it get to court where previous convictions can be taken into account and risking this outcome.

It's only just under the ton in old money. Jesus.

So it's OK to break rules as long as you're not caught???

    Crept is 10-15 Km/h over.
50Km/h over is, frankly, well into taking the piss territory.

And the limit is just under 62 mph in old money, what’s your point?

Good enough... Has shown contempt for the law on a number of occasions and importanly has gotten caught on as many occasions. I do think a slight example has been made of him, but he has never been one to shy away from that.

As for your sympathetic stance, it seems you registered on boards just to make that stance clear to us

You're reading things that weren't said.
I've been done for speeding twice but I accepted it as I was caught. There are other times I haven't been caught. It's the risk I take.

Also selective quoting there re the rest of my comment

We have all gone over the limit at some point over the years however to have 10convictions is a sign he’s completely disregarding the law. How many times do you think he’s done it and not got caught. Likewise going 155 is a bit ott as well.

The level of trolls lately is very very very poor.

God be with the days where trolls played the long game.

I wonder will he just ignore the driving ban and keep driving anyway.

Interesting case study in just how much of an asshat someone has to be on the road before the judiciary do anything. He should be looking at jail time after 12 driving convictions, not a short ban.

I'm no Carol Voderman but wasn't he going 54% above the limit?

154% of the speed limit = 54% above the speed limit

I just watched the 9-1 news report on his misdemeanours.

Let's just say if it was you or me, we would have been hit A LOT harder by the court.

I thought he was caught in one of his lambos and was like, fair enough it’s easily done. Big Range Rover like that you know when you’re doing over 150km/h.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,428 ✭✭✭DaveyDave

Let's ignore the "as if none of you have never gone over the limit". The fact is McGregor has been caught speeding, has previous motoring offences and has also refused to pay his fines or show up to court.

Doesn't matter if anyone on here has ever gone over the limit. The rest of us aren't ignorant twats. Most people take it in the chin, pay the fine and try not do it again.

Absolutely. He didn't have a license on him and failed to produce, yet it was brushed off and also failed to show up to court. I'm sure average Joe would be tore a new one for not paying multiple fines, not producing licence and skipping court.

Seen on d’telly the car that delivered him to the big house parked on a double yellow,
The local plod missed a trick not nicking him for that as well

Trust me you don't. That air suspension and insulated glass, I've been accidentally above the limit by a lot before. One of the few cars I'd believe that story in.

Interesting. To be fair the one I drove was the same generation as yours but diesel.

I'd say McGregor knew it too, none of his arrogant shoi*e , like his last time in Blanchardstown Court , and apologized to the Court

Famous sports ppl are always considered more leniently both during their court appearance and the publics attitude to what they done. I think that's shameful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,628 ✭✭✭✭MEGA BRO WOLF 5000

You should see how easily done it is in a p100d!!

mines diesel, the diesel v8 is quiet and not even half going at those speeds, mcgreggors is a newer, quieter, more powerful one. id full believe you'd do 150 in a more aerodynamic, more insulated over 300bhp range.

I doubt that applies to McGregor. The establishment hate him and his sport.
