I use an indoor one up near the Kells Road in Kilkenny and works well

Most people only use the indoor aerials they work well for them.

That very much depends on where in the city you are located.
I've lived on the castlecomer road and had no signal at all with this aerial which is stated to work for distance of 15 miles. I ended up getting a virgin media subscrption in that property.
However, I also had a the same setup in the Smithlands and had managed to get adaquate signal in one particular spot with the same aerial, so it met my needs.

The only way you will know if it will work for you is by picking one up and testing it, you can always return it if it doesn't work due to the 30 day return policy that Argos have in place.

I'll try that Argos unit - and return it if it doesn't work.

I have some cheap yoke from Argos, it works when I put it on the window sill, best one is facing south.
