Hello, I'm looking to switch to freesat/saorview and I currently own 2 older boxes (dream and vu zero) . I'm wondering can either be set up to have a combo of freesat and saorview on them or is it a case I have to buy a new one like the triviar? I have freesat running through the TV at the moment but EPG is poor. I'm only starting out on this switch (and a noob so be gentle) so I havent cancelled my Virgin just yet, I want to be setup properly before I do that or there will be carnage in the house ðŸ˜
I've attached images of the boxes front and back if anyone could take a look at them please?

You'll need to get usb dvb-t devices like these below.

I see them for sale on irish websites for €30 but you'll get 2 from china for that. They look like this.

This may be stating the obvious but you have an aerial for the saorview channels ?

Anyway just download the latest e2 images for each box and either create a fav list with the remote or use dreamedit to make a channel list which you can then write over your wifi to the box.

Ah right, didn't know they existed cheers.
I haven't actually picked up an aerial yet, any chance you could recommend one for the HD channels. The One4all aerials they have in the shop, are they any good or would a cheaper one do the job?

There are no special aerials for HD channels. The aerial receives all signals the same way.

What part of the Country are you in ? Indoor aerials are not suitable for everywhere. In mots places you would be better with an outdoor or loft aerial, especially if feeding more than one box.

Ah okay, I'm down in Waterford.
So those aerials they have are just a flashy packaging?

oh the little ones that come with the uSB dvb-t stick ?

Yeah as useful as a chocolate teapot.

And indoor aerials in general. So waterford ? This your house ? If so, see can you fit it in the loft ? If not get an outdoor one.

No the One4all aerials they sell in PC world and tescos, some offer HD, others full HD and others 4k, advertised that they work within a certain range. What's the deal with those ones?
Yeah it's my house, I'll try an indoor one first.

Any indoor aerial that needs power is a con. If it isn't getting a good enough signal, no amount of boosting amplifying or whatever will help. As already stated, You need a UHF aerial. There is no technical difference between HD, 4k, digital or anything else. A signal is a signal as far as the aerial is concerned.

EDIT: if you really want to try an indoor aerial get one from your local Euro shop. If it works, great if not, no big deal. An outdoor aerial could be fitted in an attic if needed.

    Great, cheers for that.
