What's the best site for selling something?

I accidentally ordered two of something. With shipping to an international country, it's not worth sending it back. So I just want to cover costs which is reasonable enough but works out quite expensive for what it is but it is something you cannot get here. Looking through adverts and people really don't seem to understand and would seem to offer low amounts which is pretty shabby behaviour. So what is the best site to sell something?

Adverts has definitely gone awful the last while, so many time-wasters on it. Both are free though so might as well put in on both

Do people still use ebay? Haven't logged on in years.
Adverts is pretty horrendous unless you are just getting rid of junk for free.

When you go on adverts, you have to set a minimum offer, and be quite clear in the advert that you won't accept time wasting, and that you don't want swaps, in fact you won't even reply to lowballers. I sell on it a fair bit, and its the only way.

The eBay market in the UK seems to be hopping still, especially for auctions starting low but unfortunately registered post to the UK is expensive!

    I use both,

Adverts for selling stuff that is too much hassle to ship like bikes, gym equipment etc. Also stuff only people in Ireland would be interested in, for example I've sold a few eircom routers on it over the years etc.

EBay would be my preferred platform though. Better security for both buyers and sellers. I find items sell much faster on it. Just make sure to send everything via registered post and keep the receipt / tracking number.

Few years back I sold an IPod touch to someone in Dublin. I sent it by standard post like an idiot and they put a claim forward on PayPal and got the money back + the IPod I'd say!

Not many people are aware you can still get proof of postage without having to pay extra for registered post. Just as for a stamped certificate of postage when sending item by standard post.

On ebay.ie the shopping basket icon is missing
I can see if I logout and log in as ebay.com
    Is this just me?

I never though eBay had a basket as such? You either bid or bought the item with buy now there and then on its page?

There is no basket facility on ebay.ie. Welcome to 20th century! ;)

If you buying multiple items from same user there a shopping basket. icon in top right

I buy a lot of small things on ebay from same sellers.

    Its not there on www.ebay.ie

its there on ebay.com and ebay.co.uk

The problem is the currency changes from euros then, and other things creep in like you cannot search just by irish sellers,

Its not a big deal , just wondering what's going on , internet searches relieve nothing
I was going to start a thread on it.

    EDIT:
looked it up from ebay FAQ
Can I use the eBay shopping basket on other eBay sites like eBay.com or eBay.de?
At the moment the eBay shopping basket can only be used on eBay.co.uk for items listed on the eBay.co.uk site, or on eBay.com for items listed on the eBay.com site. Items that are listed on other eBay sites and appear in search results can be purchased as regular Buy it now items.

    what a gammy website
