Peugeot 207/308?

Hi all,

considering buying a cheap second car at the moment and need some advice.

The car probably won't be kept that long and will undoubtedly be used and abused in that time, but cover very little mileage.

At the moment the role is filled by an old mondeo Mk1 estate but it's pushing on and the tax is very hard to justify on a car that sometimes does less than 1000 miles a year. The wife also wants something smaller.

I've noticed that post '08 308s HDIs are selling for beer money. Obviously there's a reason for that. How reliable are they, and what are the biggest and most common issues? I have a fully equipped workshop so I'll be looking after it myself.

She likes the idea of a 207 1.4HDI, are these better? I'd rather go for the 308 as it'll have to accommodate the odd bale of hay and tow a light trailer from time to time....not putting either near my 520!!

My mother had 2 x 207's and nothing really went wrong with them between the decade she owned them both.
