Busking

I'm probably giving someone PTSD of a lad singing Wagon Wheel amn't I?

I've played music for years.. didn't play in front of anyone until the age of 18 (I'm now 21) and I want to start getting out there more.
Busking seems like the most obvious next step.

    What's the legality around it?
I see some people with amps and others without, and it's usually the ones with amps who don't need them and vice versa.

I play a lot of finger style stuff (Paul Brady, John Mayer, Fleetwood Mac etc) so I don't know how loud I'd manage without an amplifier, but are they now illegal before 6?

Can I just set up shop anywhere? I mean obviously if there's no one nearby but what if there's buskers about? Do you just ask when they'll be finished or?

Any advice/tips/whatever else would be greatly appreciated!
