I am getting out of sucklers so I didn’t run the bull with the cows this year.
How old do the calves have to be before I can cull the cows to comply with the BDGP scheme?

    5 months old.

Sorry, you can sell the cows at any time after calving but you have to keep the calves until theyre 5 months old.

Is it possible to comply with the BDGP & not have cows calving?

Yeah, you just need enough 4 and 5 star females in the herd- I have a good few wrangling heifers who will fulfill that criteria.
It's all a bit odd really.

& what about the stock bull requirement, etc.
I'm also thinking of getting out of the cows but was thinking I'd have to pull out of the bdgp

I'll have to get a 4 or 5 star bull into my herd next July to satisfy this requirement.

I asked an advisor about this and he said that you have to have one cow calving to comply with the scheme.
Anyone know if this is correct?
