    mine is 2014 520d msport 80000 miles ,black/cream 19"

To change to 520 SE series G60 2017 42000 kms basic enough spec.

I'd expect to pay upwards of 25k with your car from a main dealer. I'd say you will get about 18/19k for your car as a trade-in. Expect to be shafted anyway and given a story about cheap imports, weak sterling, old model, etc from them yet they will be selling similar cars for way more. I also think you might regret going from a M Sport to a SE. Have you priced outside the BMW dealer network?

Whatever you pay, it would be too much, to go from an M Sport to an SE.

its for my mrs and think the se might be more suitable with kids etc .

i find it very hard on the road

Agree the msport looks far better

no, i havent looked outside dealer network but open to anything

Be prepared for offers as low as €15k for yours. It's pretty grim out there.

The ride on the g30 m sport is a lot better than the f10 I find.
You might do better going to an indy dealer importing from UK than from a BMW dealer but obviously won't get a two year warranty just whatever is left of the standard three year one.

You did well before going up three years for 15k I think.
Is the 2017 car one with a few extras or base spec?
Also maybe try other garages to compare offers.

How does msport impact the kids?!

    I wouldn't buy a non-msport one.

I was expecting it to be more to be honest.

It's his wife driving it so I suspect paying a premium for a M Sport over a SE will just be wasted money.

The se on 17” wheels doesn’t come with run flats on the g30, instead you get a mobility kit. i.e. can of gunk that doesn’t work.
Don’t know if this would be a factor if your wife is the driver but know would put my wife off.

Wouldn't put mine off, as she won't change a tyre anyway :D

Mine either but run flat have saved her being stuck on the roadside a couple of times

If you're buying a G30 520d, SEs and M Sports come with normal tyres as standard. It's only if you plunder the options list for bigger wheels that you get run flats at this level. The larger engined models come with run flats as standard in SE and M Sport.

I'd get an M Sport every time, they look so much nicer and are far more desirable second-hand. They'll also be nicer to drive and handle more like a car with a BMW badge should because of the stiffer suspension.

I take your point on the m sport.if it was for me ,def. m sport.

her current m sport is very hard on the road (mainly country roads)so much so anywhere we are going as a family we go in my E class, the difference is day and night.

Now an m sport 5 series and an se 5 series to my mrs would be the same thing.
The colour would be the biggest issue!

Off topic, out of curiosity how do you find the e class, comfort, reliability etc.

I am all looking at getting a 2016 new model in January?

Prob be the se spec but am keeping eye out on amg spec one for right price.

    i have a e220d amg spec 20 "alloys etc

it looks great because the standard version can look boring.

The comfort/economy are unbelievable compared to a Golf R !

The 5 series is a better driving car but to choose either is not a bad decision.

I’ll have to keep saving for the amg spec ;) it’s the new car now or mortgage, tough decision :)

I didn’t realize you moved from golf r. I remember you posting on the gti/r thread.
Did you find the golf held it’s value well?
I’m sure you’re not missing the fuel bills.
Re. Se versus m sport, if your wife doesn’t care just go se. It will be cheaper and is essentially the same car.
Have you looked at 2018 cars at all. There is a lot of pre reg. Stuff out there and dealer might be inclined to do a deal before Christmas.

Yes carsfan golf R gone

still miss it ! best car i ever owned but a brush with the law and the worry of wondering will it still be on the driveway in the morning are things i dont miss !

open to ideas and in no hurry so will consider anything .
looking at a nice A6 in Dublin but she likes the 5 she has so maybe stay with that.
