It missed emmission by a very tiny bit, I'd try dipetane first.

Now, that cat you linked to will be fine, however generic one (it must be welded in anyway) off local motor factors may be cheaper.

Does it burn much oil, by the way?

I'd already dosed it with Cataclean before the test, so I'm a bit fearful that additives alone mightn't be enough.

It's not too bad on the oil, I'd say about half a litre every 1,000 miles.

It was a bit low on power earlier in the year, but no fault code was showing.
Eventually the light appeared, transpired to be cause by a split hose near the air flow meter. When that was fixed the car drove much better, whether that damaged the CAT or not I don't know.

Oil burned throughout the years more than likely did the damage to the cat. And yeah, you treated it with cataclean and did not help enough. Get a new cat. :)

And switch to A5/B5/C2 oil preferrably, like this one.

Cool, we'll see how it goes, got a few weeks to retest anyway. Cheers again

Yeah, got the one linked above. Perfect fit, and the CO results for Low & High Idle were both close to 0.00 (I don't have the fail sheet handy).

Needed a complete new brake line though, mechanic said I shouldn't have been let drive it home the first day. Anyway she's in good fettle now, cheers.
