    Guys,

My new LEAF is on order for Jan 2019 delivery. Can anybody clarify to me whether the charging socket is a Type1 or a Type2, aside from the Chademo one.

The 1028 Owners Manual page 'CH-6 & CH-7 Charging’ states: "SAE J1772 compliant charging device connected to a dedicated AC 220 - 240 volt circuit. L1 & L2 EVSE” It just doesn't specify whether or not its a Type1 or Type2!!

I have spoken to Nissan who thought it was a Type2, I'm waiting to hear back from them with clarification. Wikipedia says the J1772 is a Type1.

    Utterly confused!!

    Thanks guys...

    Niall

First Gen leaf is type 1, second gen is type 2 in Europe.

    J1772 is type 1
However if you are buying a new leaf it is type 2 in Europe.

    Guys,

Thank you very much for the clarification.

    Can a J1772 be Type1 AND Type2?

    No.
J1772 is type 1 and IEC62196 "Mennekes" is type 2

    Thanks very much.

    Guys,

Nissan confirmed that the 2018/9 LEAF has an IEC62196 "Mennekes" type 2 charging socket. The US are still using a Type1 at the moment, but are in the process of switching over to a Type 2. My Owners Manual must have been a US version.

Thanks again for all your help.

Yeah, you're probably looking at the US manual. All cars are Type 1 over there.

    Guys,

I posted queries for clarification on my 2019 LEAF this morning. I got great help here.

But I really wanted to thank Tokheim Services Group in Baldonnel who were so helpful in assisting me to change my ChargePoint charger to a Type2.

I don't mean to be advertising for this company and if I contravene any Forum rules, please fell free to remove this post.

Best of luck with the car I also have one booked for jan 19 if you don't mind me asking what spec did you go for and why? Thanks

My choice was the SVE model, with Elegance Chrome Pack, Fog lights upgraded to HID/LED ones. Nissan were also offering the 'ding' coverage at what I thought was a good price. I think Nissan refer to it as SMART 36. If somebody dinges the exterior of the car. I take a photo and send it to Nissan, they organise somebody to come out and fix it.

I was going to get the SharkFin antenna too, but it may be cost prohibitive. There are good alternates available to this option.

I have already have my LeafSpy Pro App and ODBII unit all ready to go.

Car is expected sometime in Jan, but I don't have a date yet. Did you get a date for yours yet?

    Regards,

    Niall
