People have themselves to blame too.

Case in point. I had a post office within walking distance of myself in rural Ireland.
Time was when it crammed with ques out the door and outside with people posting letters and packages and getting social welfare.

But then private couriers began to get that business and locals who received social welfare would instead go into town instead and get it there for fear of their name being muttered in the parish. This included the pensioners who supported the post office in town when they did their shopping in the supermarkets.
The emergence of emails didn't help either.

Then the threat of robberies for the owners didn't help either.
That post office closed roughly five years ago with pensioners who did support it being allocated a post office 6 miles away.
Now this post office is closed now as well in the past few weeks with pensioners in this area encouraged to receive their pension via their bank or credit union account or post office 12 miles away in town.

The local shop closed in the village due to people buying cheaper in the supermarkets in town 12 miles away too.
So we've now a ghost village of village left with no post office, shop and pub barely clinging on. There's a chapel alright but that's a former glory of itself too with barely anyone going anymore.
The only thing left is the Gaa complex and pitch.

    Accepted.
But according to Mr. Ring you are 'talking down' rural Ireland by speaking the facts.

    Maybe?

They may start putting square wheels on cars on anyone that lives in rural Ireland.
