My neighbour who is relocating back to the uk has left me his Ford 7000. It has dual power. He has entrusted me in selling it for him.
How do I know it has dual power as it was resprayed and it could just be a decal?

I think there's a switch on the dashboard near the steering wheel?

I had a Ford 7610 onetime and I'm nearly sure if I can recollect that it was there.
It basically splits that gear into a faster and slower gear/speed.

On some of the 10 series it was a pedal on the floor I imagine on most older tractors it would be the same pedal is usually back behind your legs when setting in the seat and when you press it there is a catch to lock it in position

There was a lever on the steering column in some models I think

Pedal behind your leg on most older tractors is a differential lock pedal.

I'm nearly certain it's a troll thread but I'll answer anyway. On the 7000 it is a stalk coming out the left hand side of the dash. On the 600's ie 7600 it was switched to the right hand side. On AP cabbed and some SQ cabbed Ford's it was a switch on the dash while on the bigger Ford's, 8210 etc it was a little circular pedal on the floor between clutch and brake pedals.
Bass, the pedal you're talking about is the diff lock pedal.

Had a 6610 and dual power was a pedal on the floor. It was 4wd and that was on a switch on the dash.

I believe a splitter gear giving 2 speeds with a smaller change of ratio within the same main gear to help keep momentum going under load on older tractors. Operated Via a leaver or switch usually.

It's the short lever with the R clip just below the steering wheel.

So it's really just a high-low gear change? Do you have to clutch for it?

    No clutching required.

I drew a world of grain in my youth with a 6610 dual power was switch on the dash. Tortoise & Hare switch.
It's a while ago now but I think it used blow fuses regularly. A bit of tinfoil from a cigarette box used to keep her going.

That is it beside the base of the gear sticks on picture 7. There was no Diff as it had two brake pedals one for eitherside

Yep, that's because it is the diff lock.

2 brake pedals wouldn't work without a diff. (Neither would steering on hard surfaces)

Diff lock simply locks rear wheels together to improve traction it has nothing to do with independent brakes.

Well except for the fact that sometimes you needed to tip one of the split brakes to get the tractor back off the diff lock if it stuck!

The poster might be getting confused with the poor-mans diff lock of braking on one side if that wheel is spinning.......the way the back wheels would be geared, when the drive to the back end is turning, one wheel could be stuck and not moving and the other one would be spinning........but if you brake the spinning one so that it can't turn, the other one has to turn.....poor-mans diff lock ;)

I have seen the dual power pedal on some 10 series back near the gear levers and it being heel operated, not near as handy as the position up at the brake pedals. Agree tho that Bass’ pic is of difflock.

On the 10 series it depends on which cab you have. Ap cab it’s a switch on the dash and the q cab it’s on left side of the floor.
