That map on the farmers journal today is worse than useless have a squint in my eye looking at it trying to make it out. Fair sloppy and the dept website is as bad. Real half arsed stuff. They shouldn’t have bothered until they have their sh1t together.
Anyway It looks like my townsland has changed to ineligible for 2019. Some loss will feel it.
Anyone else negatively affected or positively affected??

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

Totally agree. Townlands on excel sheet not exact either. Very poor article in FJ too as usual.

As far as I can see It only lists townslands in Carlow, Clare and Cavan.
Someone must have been half tore when they put it up.

search the document for your town land by pressing CTRL and F

Mine removed from Anc also. Waiting to get letter to see how I can appeal. What makes it worse is one field is split over two townlands so part of the field is in the ANC and the other isn't.

I’d say mine will be gone as well.

That made it an easy search, thanks. I'm still on the list :)

Department sent out letters today to farmers, who indicated they wished to appeal, specifying why their townsland was removed from the ANC.

Got one myself. From reading it it doesnt leave much hope of getting a successful appeal. I wouldn't mind but I am possibly the only landowner in the townsland that it will affect as all others have enough land in other townslands that are included in the ANC. Also one of my fields covers 2 townslands so I do get paid on 1 hectare and not the other 8.
Will send in something for the appeal but not sure what yet.

Was a reason given for the change?

Land fits into the criteria for biophysical constraints ie slope, soil drainage etc. However due to the fact that the stocking rate is 1.86 in my District Electoral Division the townland has be fine tuned out of the ANC.

After that they check for average field size and percentage permanent grassland which needs to be over 50%. Unfortunately in this townland its not over 50%. Probably 75% currently in grassland but permanent grassland defined as grassland for last 6 years.

That makes sense we didn't get disadvantaged years ago as there was a good bit of tillage, but it's all disadvantage this time

I would agree if our townland was still in tillage but now it's in grass. But because it was in tillage in last 5 years it's counted as non anc. Land around you was in tillage circa 10 years ago but now that it's in grass for more than 5 years it's in the Anc. Our land and yours are probably of similar quality yet one is in and one is out. Not complaining that you got Anc, just the rules are a bit messed up.

Intensive grass farmers will effect your chances too, and local population, There's more than one criteria

1300 appeals in already , based on each townland the decision is made
