Wayne follows "15-year-old Wayne sets out on a dirt bike with his new crush Del to take back the 1978 Pontiac Trans Am that was stolen from his father before he died. It is Wayne and Del against the world

The trailer sold me on this.

Just finished it today. Enjoyable enough. Quite similar to The End of the F**king World though in my opinion not nearly as good.
It's graphically violent all the way through but after a while it becomes predictable and almost tedious.

In saying all that there's a lot of sweetness in it between the "Bonnie and Clyde" characters which had me rooting for them until the end.

More like a juvenile True Romance as a "road movie" series, with lots of running gags. It's quite silly, but very enjoyable- sweet, even, at times. Comic-book violence, at times jarring with the humour, or whatever (hey, they're from Boahsten). Many pantomime characters thrown in to pad out the story and add quirkiness, but that's alright.
Mark McKenna, the titular hero, is a Dubliner (was in Sing Street). Set up nicely for a seond series.

Signed up for the free months trial to watch Wayne. Yup very Clarence and Alabama. Fantastic performances all round. The police from Brockton was great. When he took off the shirt....Thailand...Brilliant.

2: Alright so this series this feels like the violence level of Deadly Class meets the The End of the ****ing World meets the USA

3: I call this episode the one where no-one lost body parts!

4: Feels like they're gonna settle more into a story now.

The Dryer lullaby was funny :)

How much do the episodes cost?

6: Yeah ok, that kinda worked

I was having a real kinda 'D'aawwwee' moment before the father and brothers showed up.

7: Looks like Dels family is off the case for now.. I think. One of the lesser violent episodes.

and back almost 2 and a half months later..

8: Surprisingly calm reunion. That was.. the family bonding episode but where Wayne introspects his true feelings? .. alongside stripclubs and beer fights?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

9: The show loops back around to .. remember: this is a love story

10: Well.. the definitely wanted a season 2!

    So...

    Finished!
Overall: Violent, gorey and daft with some humour and a love story thrown in.

Seems popular with the audience it was aiming for though with:
    8.4/10 from 5,587 on https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7765404/
    100% from 10 critics on https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/wayne/s01
Top ratings in the audience reviews but I guess not enough of an audience for the type of show to get enough to auto-generate an audience rating
