Thinking of packing in Sky and getting a freeview box.

Does anyone know if there is a freeview box available that can record like a Sky Q box ? Don't mind losing all the useless unwatched channels but the facility to record is very handy and something we would miss.

Most of Ireland cannot receive Freeview transmissions, which is the English equivalent of the Irish Saorview.

I think you mean Free to View satellite channels but you need to be specific.

If yes then I suggest visiting the Satellite section; reading some threads there, and then post there if necessary.

If have an older Sky setup then you can plug a FreeSat box into the cable. ( it' won't work with the new Sky Q

During setup of a genuine FreeSat box you can choose either an NI post code like BT1 1AA or a London one depending on which BBC / ITV region you want. After that you get a full EPG, series link , channels update overnight.

Due to a spat Channel 4 is in SD , but you can add Channel 4 HD manually.

FreeSat doesn't do Irish channels but any modern TV has full Irish EPG and will record to a USB key. And besides most of the stuff on Virgin is also on ITV.

My LG tv has a Sat and a Terrestrial reciever and can record tv to USB, as does my dads sony bravia.

basically run the sky cable and the aerial and you have most of the channels
