discrepancies in folders copied to external drive - iMac

I'm copying the folders and files from an old iMac to a new Western Digital My Passport external drive.

I don't why exactly I used Get Info to compare the folders after transferring but I noticed discrepancies. The GBs matched but the number of "items" transferred to the new hard drive were lower.

Just now the most recent folder completed transferring and there is a difference in the "size on disk".

Is this normal or am I losing files?

Resulting 'size on disk' can vary a little and usually does where the drive formatting and/or filesystems are not equal.

Maybe hidden files might account for the count discrepancy?
