I think Ireland is a great Country, I love it. But I've found a post on boards from 2003, and it could of been written today.

It,s more the way i cant get insurance .....I cant get decent internet ........I cant afford a house......If i get sick im ****ed.......I cant afford a car.........Blablablablablablablab

People are still dealing with these problems. I honestly believe that Fine Gael, and Leo will fix these given another few terms in office. They have done magnificent work in such a short period of time.

My Dad (60) grew up in a thatched cottage with no running water.

No, no progression to be seen here, move on.

First they came for the socialists...

And their third class citizens €152.80 a week dole for under 25's to get them to fook right off out of the country, strange thing is not a cent was taken off the pensions, talk about idiotic planning, get rid of those who will pay taxes to support your massively over subsidised retired, wtf.

Boards and the media in general are having the same moanfest now about the same or similar stuff that they had 12 to 13 years ago. I'll bullet point it.

    1. Housing - in some shape or form.
    2. Dole spongers.
    3. FTP's
    4. Traffic Congestion.
    5. The cost of living.
    6. Crime.
    7. Taxi's.
    8. Public transport.
    9. Travellers.
    10. Taxation.
    11. Foreigners.

I could go on and on.

I was delighted when the recession arrived and devastated when it ended in general. It was a delightful break from so much greed, self entitlement and outrageous expectation. Various generations are now following different angles and fighting with each other over who is responsible for the gains and loses and the impacts on their particular circumstances. I'm sure the political/corporate class are delighted to have so much distraction in the pen.

Plenty of jobs for degree holders with experience.

My daughters are now in employment after much development and education doing what they like.

The eldest started of in a series of low paid temporary positions and then changed her education by taking on a post graduate diploma which lead to a permanent job. Astute networking and searching got her head hunted into her present position which is only now paying off.

Some people will find it hard to get a paying job that pays enough to cover costs especially if they have young children and long commutes.

I know from talking to people in minimum wage jobs that they are only feasible to do if you have minimal transport costs and do not eat out for lunch. Long distance commutes, lunches, and renting away from the home place all demand more money which many employers can't or won't pay.

What did you we would all be moaning about now that our hovercar conversions were not all that they were made out to be?

And two bigs ones you missed are the hospital crisis and the homeless crisis now much worse than when that post from 2003 was made.

    Homeless my arse.

Taking a pic in a Garda station after been kicked out of 2 houses and been offered accommodation is not homeless.

There is very few homeless in Ireland as we look after the “most vulnerable “ too much.

    Bunch of nonsense.

People still moan about the issues you list because by and large they have not been addressed.

The only item on the list that has progressed is Taxi’s

A man working in a warehouse with a. Couple of kids should

with a bit of saving should be able to afford his own modest home

When a man can't do that

We have a very big problem

Work doesn’t mean you get to own a house and it never did.

    Who says???

You don't think a physical job should pay a wage to enable those doing it to support themselves.

That is why there are so many Eastern Europeans doing these jobs they are forced to share overpriced low-quality private rental apartments.

Loads of landlord TDs who have made sure affordable housing is only a pipedream.

    The money you earn.

Like it is now and always was.

Working doesn’t entitle you to anything.

    This is the problem nowadays.

The other poster mentioned warehouse work and you know that is what we were talking about.

I believe people who are working a 40 week should be paid a wage so they can support themselves.

Money is thrown at those who have never worked and we also have the free legal aid scam keeping the upper middle class in easy money.

People also rented like now throughout the history of this country.

Very few employed people over the age of 30 rented, as they could afford a house, most could not afford new cars or foreign holidays though
