xbox 360 slim won't power up - repair?

As title says, not powering up. Power supply stays orange - and I've tried a second power pack to rule that out. MS stopped supporting it, so what options do I have? Does anyone do repairs, and roughly how much could I be looking at?

I found a video where some guy took off a capacitor on rhr board board and it worked.
I tries that and it worked too!
Is it not dangerous though? Don't fancy leaving it plugged in now!
