Can anyone reccommend someone to inspect a car in Dublin before I buy? Looking at a Honda Insight on Thursday and would like a good mechanics opinion on it

    Nobody personally.

Honda Insight might need a specialist? Tread carefully.

Be careful with an Insight. You will need a battery capacity test done on it.
Recently Ive seen loads of these coming in with battery issues especially imports but the software updates usually fix them.

Theres a load of software updates that will need doing if its a Japan Import for the battery.

Actually there is. Had 2 in last week straight off the boat that required multiple updates.
One of them still had the factory software for the IMA system on it. It was a 2011 build date. There were seven revisions if I remember right to bring it to the latest.

The other one required 4 revision updates.

Both were showing capacity issues of less than 75%. One of them wasn't charging at all. Both fixed by updates.

Are these updates free? Can i just go into a Honda garage and ask for them?

The updates are free but you`ll probably be charged an hours labour for carrying them out.

Takes a mechanic about 45 minutes to carry out the updates. That's time that has to be accounted for.
