    Hi all,

Looking for some advice. I’m currently considering trading in for a A7. Currently driving a 171 Superb Combi. I’m finding the 1.6l diesel in the Superb ridiculously slow and underpowered and they are actually removing this engine from the line up now - it will be available up to Octavia size only going forward.

To keep the cost of change low, I’m looking at older A7s. Some good clean models available in 2011/12/13 guise with low mileage. I’ve driven the 204BHP and the 262BHP version and would plump for the latter if I find one. Beautiful to drive. Seems to be a 245BHP version available also - is this in older models only?

My question is if there any any known issues to look out for with the A7s of this vintage? The cars are mostly in around the 100k kilometer mark - is there any standard work that needs doing at this stage? I will be looking for FSH but would appreciate any pointers to watch for.

    Many thanks,

    IZ

The A7 is basically an A6 in a 4 door coupe body so common problems will be the same on both. They are all 3.0 litre v6 diesel here but the lowest powered ones are front wheel drive. The others are mostly Quattro 4wd, I don't have much experience of them but the Quattro is the one to get as the front wheel drive and heavy v6 engine make the front of the car very nose heavy which diminishes the handling. The Quattro versions also get the much better S-Tronic dual clutch gearbox too over the Multitronic CVT box in the front wheel drive versions.

There is also a 313 bhp bi-turbo version but they are rare enough.

Thanks Bazz, it’s a Quattro s-line spec, automatic that I would be looking for. A6 was on the cards but I personally prefer the looks and style of the A7 and it’s also difficult to find a decent 3l A6, which is what I want engine wise. (Superb is the first car I’ve ever had below 220bhp so I refuse to go for less than 200bhp now, if I change)

Any common engine / reliability issues that you’re aware of?
