    they are ex-vat prices

this deal on a windows 10 laptop with a fast ssd drive for 343 total in argos is a better deal

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/8666635/Trail/searchtext%3ELENOVO+330S.htm

better cpu also than most of those crappy celerons in the dells (except for i3 one)

also a 15 inch screen likely to suit elderly parents more.

black friday week deal running until nov 27th or until stocks run out

Do you think this price will reduce further in January?

OP, I think you should stick with your plan to get a Chromebook for elderly parents who just want to do email and surf the web.

Reason? Chromebooks are lower maintenance than Windows computers. They are also virtually immune to viruses, malware, spyware, and ransomware. This is important because older people tend in general to be more trusting and thus more vulnerable to various forms of cyber-attack.

Chromebooks are also easier for older people to use. If they can use a web browser, they can use a Chromebook.

If you want to be constantly bombarded with questions and problems, go ahead and get them a Windows 10 machine. But if you want to give them something that they can just use and that won't cause you headaches, get a Chromebook. :)
