House up the road is having building work done and I asked if they would paint my hall door as a nixer. Small wooden door on terraced house.

Any idea what the going rate is? We'll be changing the colour so it will need two coats. Don't want to get ripped off.

Inside and out? What colour? Condition of doors. Type of paint? Any filling involved? Chances ate only retaining the original colour would need 2 coats. Otherwise 3 minimum if not 4.

Just the outside. Door is six years old. No filling needed. Black at the moment but want to go lighter, perhaps a dusky green? Doesn't have to be gloss, matt/silk style is fine.

one word of advice, don't even attempt to do it this time of year. Any moisture in the door will have to come out and chances are , it will blister when the weather heats up

The builders up the road musn't be aware of this so!

Any issues painting interior walls with a matt paint this time of year, or does the above only apply to wood?

No issue with interior. If paint is taking a while to dry, put on heating and open windows slightly

If it’s cash it is quite expensive, but if he was charging you vat then probably not. Break it down. Take furniture off door, rubber seals if any. Sand and degrease door. First coat door. Put back on furniture etc. normally leave seals off till door is fully finished. Next days repeat. Following day put finish coat on.

Using transport adds to costs etc....

If you bought paint, I’d say 120-150 is reasonable though, if painter is local.
