    I have a 2010 Panda and 2011 C4.

Have come a cross the a good deal on an apple play car stereo. It is a single din backing. I think it will fit in the panda. Looks a straight forward install.

Not sure about the C4. Any one else fitted something like this in a C4

That's a double din unit. Single din is 180x50

Easy installation with compact 1 DIN housing

Despite the 2-DIN display, the back of the product much smaller than conventional 2-DIN units. This allows a much easier installation and leaves plenty of space for the wiring and other accessories behind the display.

I think the Panda has a double din opening.

I bought a Pioneer Apple Car Play stereo and was bitterly disappointed with it.
For messages / Whatsapp, it won't display any messages, it'll just read out new messages to you.
Controlling Google Maps through Siri is difficult, for some stupid reason Apple still think people actually use their Maps App.
Most IOS Apps won't appear / work.
Amazon Music will work, sort of, no support for Alexa.

I have an Android Xtron in a different car, it was significantly cheaper and I'd rate it far higher than the Car Play stereo.

You’re not supposed to read the messages while driving; that’s why it reads them to you!

Cars sometimes stop, like at traffic lights.
Plus, if Apple are so worried about safety then they should integrate google maps with Siri. As it stands you have to look at / interact with the screen in order to use google maps.
