Can't get FTA channels on tv

    Hi All

I'm trying to tune in FTA directly on my tv.

I currently have a sky box with 2 feeds going into the back of it. I'm was going to use one of these feeds to put directly into the tv as I'm ditching sky.

However when I put the cable into the tv , all the channels I am looking for are nowhere to be seen - BBC ,ITV etc.

All that is coming up is oddball channels I never heard off like Olive tv, Highstreet tv , Fame tv etc etc. In fact 93 channels but nothing I'm after.

Could anyone advise what is wrong here. Would the sat tuner on my tv be the issue the satellite cable

    Thanks

Can you check exactly which LNB you have? Your installer may have incorrectly fitted a quattro LNB, instead of a quad. A quattro will only pick up a quarter of the channels specific to one band on each of the outputs and cannot be changed with the tone or voltage switch from a box.

Are they visually different ? how can I tell one from the other.

A hybrid LNB for Sky Q has 6 ports (outputs). A standard Sky Q LNB has only 2 and will only work with Sky Q.

A hybrid LNB will work with any other satellite box / TV. Apparently it doesn't matter which port it's connected to, the LNB will automatically give the correct feed for the box it's connected to.

This is just a guess, but maybe the Sky Q box has to be powered off and on again to reset the port that you have connected to the TV or else disconnect the other cable from the Sky Q box for 5 minutes and then try scanning on TV again.

You have a hybrid LNB, so you should be fine, but you cannot use the cable from the Sky Q box without swapping the cable at the LNB end to one of the currently unused ports ports for standard satellite receivers.

Your hybrid LNB has 2 different types of ports 2 for SkyQ and 4 for legacy equipment such as your TV.

Great thanks , that answers it. Looks like I'll be getting out a satellite installer in that case.

If you can reach it safely, just unscrew from one output and screw into the other.
