Buying imported Japanese cars in Ireland?

I was going through all my fav cars saved on done deal and only one out of 8 cars isn’t an imported!!! Is there anything wrong with those cars? Pro and cons? TIA

The majority of imported (as in not registered new in ireland) are from the uk as opposed to Japan, but for the JDM cars, you could have issues with getting parts, diagnostics, insurance, the original Japanese radio/tv won’t work here and is usually in Japanese only, and the anti theft equipment may not be as good as on European spec cars.

What Colm says. And probably more importantly, insurance companies will charge a hefty premium if indeed they'll cover you at all.

The others have covered the cons well enough, only other con i can add is tyres may be an option if they are not e marked. Pros are the tend to be very low mileage very well maintained and decent spec, what car are you looking for , importing yourself is pretty easy and you can save a fair bit depending on your needs.

We have 2 imports in the house one a "high performance" older car (1995) and a modern low cc turbo car. Both were easy enough to insure and in the case of the second car we seen minimal difference between the policy price between the irish and Jap model.
