Hey my mam was driving my diesel car (VW Golf) and she accidentally put €5 worth of petrol into my tank. When she realised what she done she filled my tank up with €50 diesel. It seems to be driving fine (at the moment) but should i bring it to a garage to get drained or will that amount of petrol effect the engine?

No harm. Will even give the engine a clean.

Not a mechanic, but you should be fine. Most likely effect will be a cleaner engine. Some truck drivers do similar on purpose occasionally. But, Id not recommend doing it on purpose.

Brim the tank with diesel a few times to dilute away the petrol that was put into it.

It'll be fine, done it with €20 worth of petrol filled up the rest with Diesel, no problems.

    Could be really serious.

    Small possibility of stalling.

But if it does, your mum will be on the way to do the lotto and will have left it late.
Car will stall, she'd have to walk/run to the store and will miss the cutoff by 2 minutes.

And guess what, yep, all 6 numbers will come out.

If you're really worried about it, put it on donedeal for a 'fair' price. Mark it as 'never gave a days trouble'. Use a cheap burner for the phone number.

You've probably no reason to worry though with that little petrol.
