Guys, anyone here using any hardware that records from IPTV?
    I've mag 254 but that doesn't record.
I'm aware its normally a functional option at the server side.
That aside, is there any box/ device I can move to, for IPTV that will record to external HDD.

    Thanks.

I don't understand why it would be impossible.
Anything that can be displayed can be recorded.

I understand if there is no commercially available STB that does it, but that not mean it is impossible to do.

A quick Google search came up with this. No idea if it works though as I haven't tried it yet.

From my old HTPC days there was a product called DVB link which has now become TV Mosaic
Its a server and client setup but does IPTV and recordings. Ive not used mosaic so am not sure if itll work for your needs.

I don't use IPTV on my set up, but have tested it in case I ever require it.
I can record from any stream I can receive, including IPTV.
My system is not a 'commercial product' so probably not really relevant to this thread.
I also use only opensource, libre, and free from cost software.

What I do not know is whether any particular, desired, IPTV service can be received, as I have not had the desire to pay a sub to find out. :)

Wow, I had no idea this area would be so complex. Thanks for the input on it!

I genuinely thought there would be someone using a general IPTV service.
I suppose my issue is that sometimes I will want to watch back something but the IPTV will say file missing or there will be a missing piece or something or other.
I would prefer to be able to record

if you want a simple device for recording an IPTV stream then buy an android box or whatever for your IPTV and stream it through a game recorder ( Look up "game recorder" or "game capture" on aliexpress/wish/gearbest etc).

Its not ideal as its not seamless like a DVR but its a relatively cheap option

I've recorded iptv using both a vu duo2 and an xtrend et10000.

The iptv channels were in bouquets just like the normal channels were. I had them linked to the epg that normally goes with the satellite channels and all I had to do was press the record button on the remote same as any of the other channels.

Using VLC on Windows you can save an IPTV stream, not really a device though.
