I was planning on swapping out my older tatty fireplace but a friend just told me it won't work as I have a real fire and this fireplace came from a gas fire... Is there a difference? Is there a difference? Is there any logical reason it wouldn't work? I haven't measured it buy by eyeball they seem the same size...

Any comments appreciated, I'm not a great man for DIY.
