for better performance and future proofing I'd go for a laptop with an nvidia 1060 card
    inside. it's a good bit more powerful than a 1050 or 1050ti.
the version in this laptop is the 3gb card but that is fine as the 6gb card is only needed for 4k gaming and the screen on the laptop is 1080p.
a 1060 card allows for the option of vr gaming down the line also. it will run most games at 1080p high settings.

750£ reliable site used by many here with no issues. that's about 850 euro at current rates. use revolut to buy to get best exchange rate. if you don't have it just get the app for a free virtual card, load up money on it and buy with the revolut card number. will save you 2.5 to 3% compared to using an irish bank card

the same laptop is on amazon for the same price if you'd prefer to buy from them

that's a good price for that setup.

last year/ earlier this year laptops with 1060 cards were £1000

worth the extra for the 1060. here's a framerate comparasion of the cards at ultra high settings at 1080p on 3 different games. more fps (frames per second) is obviously better. you can see how much better the 1060 card is by the results.

    GTX 1050 GTX 1050Ti GTX 1060
    GTA V (fps) 23 27 48
    Hitman (fps) 30 39 58
    Metro Last Light 23 28 45

Looking for similar - Question though? Is 8G ram still enough for a gaming laptop these days?

it is yes. you can add more to that laptop (will have another ram slot free) but 8gb is fine for gaming on the whole - the graphics card is what defines the capability really.

ta - I tend to use very heavy apps myself so I usually go 16G for my desktops at least - but this is for a gamer so hopefully 8G if ok for the games he plays - fortnight, vr, fallout etc.
thanks.... hopefully there is something off it on blackfriday...

8gb ddr ram is about €40 so not a big outlay to increase it and there are 2 ram slots in that machine.

not sure what black friday will bring but worth waiting at this stage I suppose

Posted this earlier but for some reason it didn't go through - are there specific reasons why you're looking for a laptop? I posted this in the other thread about the "graphic tablet" as well, but laptops are very very very poor value for performance when it comes to high end/gaming; not to mention provide very poor longevity - once the graphics chip in them starts being obsolete, it's off to a new laptop altogether.

I'm finding that most people nowadays automatically make the association computer = laptop, but if you don't have any particular constraints in terms of mobility, maybe it's the case to consider a desktop build...

Not everyone wants a desktop. Bulky and not portable.
Also the value differential is quite small these days. A desktop setup with an Nvidia 1060 with a monitor and keyboard would be challenging enough to get for 850 euro.
