Advice on blinds

    Hello,

We are decorating some rooms in our house.

Our kitchen is painted white with an oak kitchen, skirting, windows and doors. We have been considering which blinds to get for the two windows - both quite large - and thought that vertical blinds might be best.

The question is with a large room which is just white and brown, what colour should we opt for in the blinds. I thought maybe a splash of colour would invigorate the space, but I'm not sure. Something like:

We have a nice view from the window, which has an opening down one side, so would want to ensure we could still see it whilst maintaining privacy. I suspect that many of these thinks look better in magazines/internet than they do in reality.

The adjacent TV room has a picture window which I feel is too small for vertical blinds as they would block the view when drawn back. So I was considering venetian blinds or a roller blinds for this room.
Can venetian blinds be bought in any colour other than wood effect and white? Again, I thought a splash of colour here would be beneficial.

Any suggestions on what to do here?
