A friend had his car damaged whilst at home recovering from eye surgery and only found about it when his insurance company contacted him saying a claim had been received the previous day for a collision that happened somewhere near his home. The other vehicle happens to be owned by a building contractor doing work to a house opposite, what a coincidence? Within days his insurance company has sided with the 2 workmen who claimed to have been inside the vehicle at the time, as their version of events tied in with photos provided and that the fact that my friend mentioned eye surgery.
He is to meet a solicitor next week; my question is could he do more, involve the garda, contact an insurance ombudsman etc As it stands his insurance is pay out and will face higher premiums? As yet he has not received evidence of the collision.

So is your friend saying there was no accident, or he wasn't driving, or what? Gardai perhaps to see if an accident was reported.

    Contact your insurance

They won't be long disproving their story

He has yet to contact the Garda, he waiting till he meet with a solicitor next week. There was damage done to his car, a large scrape down the passenger side where we believe another vehicle hit his vehicle whilst it was stationary outside his house, possible reversing or doing a turn. not sure of the damage to the other vehicle as no photographic evidence has been received.
