From Robert Zemeckis and starring Aidan Gillen and the always great Neal McDonough.

Based on the real life Project Blue Book.
The series revolves around secret U.S. Air Force investigations into supposed UFO encounters and unexplained phenomenon, undertaken by astrophysicist, and eventual ufologist, Josef Allen Hynek in the 1950s and 1960s.

    Starts on January 8th

    An enjoyable pilot episode.

It has a very X-Files vibe about it with the way it is filmed especially the flashback episodes to Mulder's father and Smoking Man's younger days.

From a review I read it seems like they are treating the MJ12 hoax as real, that’s The History Channel for you.

They had a the skeptic/believer thing going on. Or, the denier and the believer, at least. And things like the phone call by Allen, next to a lamp in his office...bit X Files ish alright. It was obvious the lipstick wan from the shop was up to no good. Off to a decent start anyway, hope to see more of McDonough and how they evoke the period.

It's a bit slow, but you can see the similarities to the X files...the main charachter who wants to get to the truth. In this case coupled with a military/intelligence character who wants to use the main charachter to debunk the witnesses' stories and close the case asap. The shadowy guys in trenchcoats and Fedoras. The underground believers. The slowly evolving conspiracy theory.

I just take it that the episodes are extremely loosely based on actual characters and cases, and run with the entertainment. if you liked X files, its worth checking out. Im only up to ep5 so far

    Season 2 trailer

It's a comically bad teaser (looked shot and edited solely for release), but thought the opening season generated enough credit to warrant checking out the second.

I've enjoyed the first 3 episodes of season 2,

A Roswell two parter and Area 51 have been fun.

I couldn't stick with it. I wanted to like it but ended up deleting the last 2 episodes of series 1 because I couldn't be bothered to watch them.
